Hundreds are in Nassau to attend the world’s first event dedicated to securities tokens, polycon18. The three-day conference, which is underway at Baha Mar is designed to bring together the worlds of high finance and blockchain, attract institutional investors, retail advisors and high net worth individuals, as well as some of the fastest-growing blockchain companies from around the world. Polymath, along with grit capital is hosting this conference, which includes sessions, panels, meetings and keynote dinners.
co-founder Trevor Korverko says his company’s goal is to help to bring together businesses to help leverage bloc chain technologies.
Korverko went on to say “we think bitcoin and bloc chain and decentralized technology is the future; we think it’s taking over many industries like finance, like healthcare, like education. We think it’s important to be a bridge between the thousands and millions of businesses out there that can benefit from this technology so what polymath does is help them launch their own token any business anywhere can create a token that represents ownership of that business and that token is tradable…it is more efficient than traditional forms of ownership…we just think it’s time for an upgrade businesses in the way they ‘re structured and owned into the 21st century”.
With organizers looking to make this annual event, this spells good news for the Bahamas. Minister of state for Grand Bahama, Sen. The Hon. Kwasi Thompson welcomed the 600 participants at Wednesday night’s opening dinner and reception to the Bahamas. He told how the government is very much interested in these technologies and plans are underway to make Grand Bahama the country’s technology hub. The Hon. Kwasi Thompson continued by saying “Grand Bahama is ideally suited for tech businesses, ideally suited for the promotion of the technology industry and so we want to move those things in Grand Bahama and are hoping that even from the connections that we would’ve made here tonight that we would have even more interest in terms of bloc chain. We are inviting these same companies to come and look at the Bahamas as a place to do business, a place to have conferences and a place to provide opportunities for Bahamians. Grand Bahama is going to be the center of technology.
