A leading lady of the Free National Movement has passed away. ZNS Network learning a short time ago that Theresa Moxey-Ingraham died at her home earlier today following a long illness.
In the political arena, Ms. Moxey-Ingraham served a total of 15 years as a Senator, Member of Parliament and Cabinet Minister. She served in the cabinet of former Prime Minister, the Right Hon. Hubert Ingraham. Over the years she had responsibility for Transport, Culture, Health and Environment, Social Development, Agriculture, Commerce, Housing, Labour, Immigration and Social Services. An Educator by profession; Ms. Moxey-Ingraham taught English, Literature, and drama in the public school system and at the private tertiary level. A member of the hospitality industry for many years, she worked in the areas of marketing, food and beverage and training before leaving to pursue a career in politics.
According to FNM Chairman Carl Culmer, Mrs. Moxey-Ingraham served her party and her country well.
A meritorious council member of the Free National Movement, Mrs. Moxey-Ingraham was an eloquent speaker. She previously hosted a weekly, live radio talk show called ‘Theresa’s Saturday Salon,” and was the former host of the weekly television show “Round Table.” She served as the Executive Director of The Bahamas Campus of Sojourner-Douglass College and was a past President of the Association of Tertiary Institutions in The Bahamas (ATIB) She most recently served as Chairman of the National Training Agency.
