The Bahamas Department of Meteorology has issued an amendment for the severe thunderstorm warning from 1:10 p.m EDT until 2:40 p.m Thursday 26th April 2018. A severe thunderstorm warning is in effect for North Andros and Great Exuma and their adjacent waters. At 1:05 p.m, radar, satellite imagery and the lightning detector depicted clusters of heavy showers and thunderstorms moving toward or over the mentioned islands.
This area is associated with a stalled frontal boundary in the vicinity of the central Bahamas. Some of these thunderstorms will be severe at times causing strong gusty winds, dangerous lightning, heavy downpours, hail and possible waterspout or tornadic activity.
Boaters in the warning area should seek safe Harbour and residents in the warning area should stay indoors and away from windows when conditions worsen. Residents should not seek shelter under trees or in water as these can become lightning conductors.
