Police investigates boating accident


Police in New Providence are investigating a boating accident, Sunday, 3rd June 2018, which left an adult male dead and another missing at sea. According to reports, shortly after 8:00pm, six persons on board a 20ft Boston Whaler boat were traveling in waters just off Long Cay, (near Balmoral Island), when the boat hit a reef, causing five of the passengers to be thrown into the water. Three of the passengers received injuries. The captain attempted to swim to shore for assistance, however; he has not been seen since. The other persons were rescued by RBDF Harbour Patrol officers and transported to the hospital, where one of the men succumbed to his injuries. Two other passengers who are being treated are listed in stable condition. The search continues for the missing man.
Investigations are ongoing.
