President and founder of the GirlCon Organization Senator The Hon. Katherine Smith, committee members and 3 Grand Bahamian students are participating in the 63rd Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) at the United Nations in New York March 9-15, 2019.

“The CSW is the principal global intergovernmental body exclusively
dedicated to the promotion of gender equality and the empowerment of women.  CSW is instrumental in promoting women’s rights, documenting the reality of women’s lives throughout the world and shaping global standards on gender equality and the empowerment of women”

GirlCon was formed with its mission to help young women and girls realize their potential as contributing citizens, and overcoming barriers that pose as issues to their wellbeing. With this as our focus, we support the 17 Sustainable Goals of the UN with particular emphasis on goal number 5 “gender equality.”
