ZNS and BCPOU signs contract

A new contract signed today between executives of The Bahamas Communications and Public Officers Union and the Broadcasting Corporation of the Bahamas and public Officers Union and the Broadcasting Corporation of the Bahamas. The three-year industrial agreement that was negotiated over three months by several union and management executives ensures equity in compensation and encourages productivity among staff at The Broadcasting Corporation of The Bahamas. It provides a lump sum in the amount of nine hundred dollars and a four percent salary increase for line staff at The Broadcasting Corporation of The Bahamas.

President of The Bahamas Communications and Public Officers Union Deno Rolle applauded executives for their leadership during negotiations.

The agreement also calls for gratuity increases of up to 26 weeks for employees who resign or retire and there are improvements on several employee allowances including grooming, lunch, day visit travel and meals.

Chairman of the Broadcasting Corporation Mike Smith says he’s pleased with the professional manner in which the talks were conducted.

General Manager of The Broadcasting Corporation of The Bahamas Kayleaser Deveaux-Isaacs says the partnership signals a renewal partnership between The Broadcasting Corporation of The Bahamas and Bahamas Communications and Public Officers Union.

Parliamentary Secretary in the office of the Prime Minister Pakeisha Parker-Edgecombe was among many dignitaries celebrating the contract signing.

Executives see this re-invigorated partnership as the beginning of good things to come.
