BFSB sponsors Marine Money Week Maritime Conference in New York City

The Bahamas has a rich maritime heritage holding the current position as one of the world’s top ten flag states with over fifty million gross tonnage of ships flying the Bahamas flag in every corner of the globe. Recently, The Bahamas Financial Services Board sponsored the 32 nd Annual Marine Money Week Conference in New York City on June 17 th – 19 th. Marine Money International bridges the gap between shipowners and the international capital markets. The conference was held at The Pierre Hotel in New York City. It is the world’s largest ship finance forum, attended by over three-hundred ship finance professionals comprised of ship owners, investors, ship managers, brokers, lawyers and accountants.

As a Gold sponsor, Tanya McCartney, CEO & Executive Director of BFSB addressed the delegates on the topic The Bahamas Lifestyle: The Best in Business, Banking, Boating and Beaches. She used the opportunity to share the Bahamas’ long history in the maritime sector as a leading ship register but also enticed attendees who may be acquainted with the jurisdiction for shipping only to consider what we have to offer in relation to financial services and international business. She shared with delegates that there are “four vital features which distinguishes The Bahamas from other significant international financial centre. There are being well regulated, our expertise, commitment to innovation and our unique geographical location”. She provided an update on the progress made to address EU concerns, incentives provided to persons wishing to do business in the jurisdiction and
immigration and residency.
