BPL reported an island wide blackout on Tuesday, June 7, 2019. The outage began at 11:45 a.m. The cause is under investigation at this time. Meanwhile, the first engine was brought back online at 12:20PM, with the first customers online at that time. By 2PM, 85% of the network had been restored.
All but one of the generators servicing the system have been restored to the network. Teams are working to get that final unit online so that the restoration can be completed. Until that unit is placed in service it will be necessary to resume load shedding in two and a half hour rotation. We regret the need for load shedding and will advise once the final unit is restored and all customers are back online. The final engine was returned to service at just after 4PM. We are in the process of returning all remaining customers to service at this time.
