Commander Defence Force Tours RBDF Rangers Camp

Commander Defence Force, Commodore Tellis Bethel, was given a first-hand view of the Rangers Leadership Summer Camp in action on Monday past. The camp is being conducted on the campus of R. M. Bailey Senior High School with more than 90 Rangers cadets from the Royal Bahamas Defence Force Rangers attending the camp, now in
it 4th year of existence. Led by Lieutenant Delvonne Duncombe, who currently serves as Rangers Director, the 3-week leadership program is designed to develop character and leadership skills among the high school students currently enrolled in the Rangers program.

This year’s curriculum also includes: Introduction to Basic Photography, Introduction to Foreign Languages, Pastry and Bread Making and a Band Camp. During his walkabout at the camp, Commodore Bethel met with the camp coordinator, Petty Officer Rhoda Cleare and Rangers instructors of the various units. He also interacted with some of the camp participants, who shared some of the activities they have learned within the first few weeks. Commodore Bethel also met with the school’s Principal, Mr. Colin Thompson. On completion of this camp, the students are expected to utilize their skills to enhance both their personal development and the Rangers program. The Defence Force acknowledges the following sponsors who assisted in the this year’s camp namely; D’Albenas Agency, Caribbean Gas, Bahamas Agriculture and Industrial Corporation and the Holy Catholic Anglican Church.
