Entry requirements for Canada and U.S

The Ministry
of Foreign Affairs has been made aware of information circulating in social
media that special provisions have been put in place for evacuees from Grand
Bahama and Abaco Islands to travel to the United States of America (USA) and
Canada in the aftermath of Hurricane Dorian.

The Ministry
has contacted both Canada and the USA in this regard and can confirm that the
existing regulations and required documentation to enter these countries have
not been changed.  Further, the Ministry has not received information from
any other country indicating that its entry requirements for Bahamian nationals
has been changed due the aftermath of Hurricane Dorian.

Members of
the public are advised to adhere to entry requirements of countries that they
wish to visit.  In cases of uncertainty,
persons can contact the Consular Division of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs
for information in relation to entry requirements for Bahamians by other
countries.  It is unfortunate that in a tragic situation such as this,
persons would propagate false information.  To this end, members of the
public are advised to be cautious of messages circulating in social media
platforms as the information can be false and misleading.
