Prime Minister Minnis assesses Abaco recovery efforts, security


P.M the Most Hon. Dr. Hubert Minnis led a delegation of Cabinet ministers to Abaco on Wednesday 2 October to assess recovery and reconstruction efforts on the island, including security manpower. The Prime Minister left for Abaco shortly after delivering the first in a series of communications to the House of Assembly on the progress of Hurricane Dorian recovery.

The delegation received a briefing from the National Emergency Management Agency team at the Emergency Operations Center, which has been officially turned over to NEMA. The delegation also visited the settlements of Marsh Harbour and Treasure Cay. Accompanying the Prime Minister were Minister of Foreign Affairs the Hon. Darren Henfield, MP, North Abaco; Minister of Social Services and Community Development, the Hon. Frankie Campbell; Minister of State for the Ministry of Disaster Preparedness, Management and Reconstruction, the Hon. Iram Lewis; and Mr. James Albury, MP, Central and South Abaco.

The delegation returns to Nassau on Thursday 3 October.
