Minister of the Environment and Housing the Hon. Romauld Ferreira and Permanent Secretary Janice Miller joined stakeholders on a tour of the New Providence Ecology Park (NPEP) on October 4, 2019. Minister Ferreira and his team viewed the developments that had taken place since its launch six months ago. Also present were Director of Environmental Health Services, Melanie McKenzie; Member of Parliament for Tall Pines and Deputy Speaker of the House of Assembly the Hon. Donald Saunders; Government officials; NPEP board members; employees and various stakeholders.
Among the advancements noted during the tour included the extinguishing of site fires and the implementation of measures to reduce the risk of future fires; site organization and the remediation of leaking toxins and health hazards; as well as the creation of a sustainable ecosystem.
