Jodi Minnis – Winner of Prime Minister’s Cup at National Youth Awards


Noted visual artist, curator and cultural enthusiast Ms. Jodi Minnis (in yellow dress) won the Prime Minister’s Cup, at the National Youth Awards, held at the Atlantis Resort, on October 23, 2019.  Minister of Youth, Sports and Culture, the Hon. Lanisha Rolle (pictured at podium) addressed the event and congratulated the outstanding honourees.   Other top award winners were Minister’s Cup winner Ms. Shaquille Sands, and Director’s Cup winner Mr. Karajahyah Forbes.  Awards were also presented in 15 areas, including Education, Religion, Arts and Culture, Personal Triumph and Rising Star.  

The 2019 National Youth Month Patron and Lifetime Honouree, the Scout Association of The Bahamas’ John Phillpot; and outgoing Director of Youth K. Darron Turnquest received special recognition. Among those present were Members of Parliament Mark Humes and Travis Robinson; Senator Jamal Moss; Permanent Secretary Nicole Campbell; the Ministry’s Permanent Secretary, David Cates; Under Secretaries Renee Bullard (Acting) and Montez Williams; Executive Director of Culture Rowena Poitier Sutherland; Director of Sports Timothy Munnings; Head of the Division of Youth Sandena Neely; and other youth leaders and stakeholders.
