Members of the Rehabilitation of Offenders Committee paid a courtesy call on Prime Minister the Most Hon. Dr. Hubert Minnis (centre) on Friday, 31 January 2020 at the Office of the Prime Minister. Committee chairman, Mr. Paul Farquharson (left) and committee member, Mr. Paul Rolle (right) briefed the Prime Minister on the work being carried out by the committee since its appointment in September 2019.
The Committee has been laying the foundation for the review of expungement applications, with a special focus on the young and
first-time offenders. Under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Amendment) 2015, people who have committed murder, manslaughter, treason, armed robbery, rape or possession of dangerous drugs with the intent to supply cannot have their records expunged.
