Assistant Director of the Bahamas National Statistical Institute (BNSI), Kimberly Rolle recently gave a presentation on the findings of the 2022 census.  The survey results revealed a change in religious denomination preferences by Bahamians.

The document stated that historically the three principal religious denominations were Baptist, Anglican and Roman Catholic which has changed to Baptist, Anglican, and Non-Denominational.

Rolle said, “the Baptist religion grew from 122,500 persons in 2010 to 135,874 in 2022.  The Anglican religion experienced a slight decrease of 1% from 48,006 persons in 2010 to 47,454 persons in 2022. Although the number for the non-denominational religion dropped from 41,214 in 2010 to 35,296 in 2022, it is still ranked in the top three.  The Roman Catholic denomination decrease from 42,287 persons in 2010 to 34,748 in 2022.”
