Chantelle Sands has assumed office as the new President of the Abaco Chamber of Commerce. Sands takes over after the resignation of former President, Daphne DeGregory-Miaoulis.

The new President told ZNS News she aims to strengthen ties between the Chamber and government agencies. She said, “persons coming in to invest in the island and you know do business, the existing businesses as well the can use the Chamber as a point of contact. In doing this I feel like investors and government agencies will ensure their consistent messaging and a structured approach to addressing business concerns even as we rebuild and restore there are things that needs to be more structured.

According to Sands talks are underway with the Bahamas Chambers of Commerce and government agencies to make training programs available for the workforce. “By investing investing in education and training the Chamber helps to ensure that businesses have access to employees who can help their business overall, improve the efficiencies, take on the digital transformation and adopt new technologies in the workplace.”

Sands hopes to connect with a digital wallet to address the absence of commercial banks. The Abaco Chamber of Commerce will also be conducting a survey on its website shortly.
