Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Tourism, Investments and Aviation, the Hon. Chester Cooper recently announced that visitor arrivals for 2024 has exceeded 10 million. This announcement comes as Cooper was named Caribbean Minister of Tourism of the Year for 2024 and the country won the Caribbean Travel Award for best destination.
Cooper told ZNS News, “we have had some bumps in the road. We’ve had two hurricanes, we’ve had a travel advisory earlier in the year but no withstanding these bumps the product continued to be very strong.”
The Minister expects December 2024 to out perform December 2023. “We’re expecting the December month to be very strong. We still have very strong airlift. We’re increasing airlift capacity even in Exuma where Sandals is closed temporarily we see American Airlines increase and Delta increase the number of flights and the number of seats that they are offering.”
Cooper says the Ministry of Tourism expects to do in 2025 what they’re doing this year.
