The Bahamas is set to host the annual meeting of the African Export Import Bank in the capital in June. The announcement came at a hosting agreement signing ceremony held on Thursday at the Baha Mar Resort.

Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, the Hon. Philip Davis was in attendance at the ceremony. While addressing the audience he said, “we’ll be hosting over 4,000 visitors which will be a tremendous economic boost to the country with heads in beds. The Bahamas is a well known recreational center for tourism and tourists and so the economic impact alone would be significant to the country. And of course we have a spin off from the fact the decisions to the taken by the bank that will impact some of the economic challenges that we have, we’re hoping to seek assistance from the bank.”

President and Chairman of the AFREEXIMBANK, His Excellency Benedict Oraman expressed that opportunities for investment exist between Africa and the Caribbean.

The African Export Import Bank annual meeting is scheduled for June 12-15, 2024.
