A press event was held at the Office of the Prime Minister on Thursday where Minister of Transport and Energy, the Hon. Jobeth Coleby-Davis and officials of Bahamas Power & Light (BPL) launched the Energy In Motion Initiative.
This new initiative is meant to keep the general public informed on matters concerning the provision of energy in the country. To aid this endeavor the the Office of the Prime Minister’s press briefing will focus on energy sector announcements twice per month.
Minister Coleby-Davis said, “as Minister of Energy and Transport I’ve been advised of the hard truth more than 70% of BPL’s generation fleet can be characterized as being in either fair condition or nearing the end of their useful life. In simple terms most of our engines are tired and struggling. That is what the new energy era is not just a vision, it is a mission we are carrying forward with urgency.”
