Chaplain of the House of Assembly, Bishop Valentino Williams called for tougher penalties for sexual offences outside of the House of Assembly on Wednesday. His comments came after a father was sentenced to five years in prison after admitting to molesting his three year old twin daughters.

Bishop Williams said, “in addition to the harsher penalties we also need some level of psychiatric treatment. He needs counselling cause clearly there are some dysfunctions with him and of course within that particular family.”

The Senior Pastor of Life Changers Ministries also volunteered to work with the government on the issue. “One of my roles as Chaplain is to speak on behalf of God and I’ll be more than willing to provide any level of advice and even recommendation for us to really relook at some of our laws and make some adjustments because I don’t think its fair in terms of what’s happening and these punishments that’s being levied so yes, I’ll be more than willing to do my part and give advice in that area.”

The 37 year old father changed his plea after his older daughter gave testimony in court. Along with the five year sentence he must receive sexual abuse counselling, an psychological evaluation and participate in the prison work program.
