Celebration of Chinese Spring Festival

Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Peter Deveaux Isaacs brought remarks on behalf of Minister the Hon. Darren Henfield, at the celebration of the Chinese Spring Festival, on January 16, 2020.  Minister of Education the Hon. Jeff Lloyd; the Hon. Mr. Chief Justice Brian M. Moree, Q.C.; Leader of the Opposition the Hon. Philip Davis and former Governor-General Her Excellency the Most Hon. Dame Marguerite Pindling joined People’s Republic of China Ambassador His Excellency Huang Qinguo and his wife, Madame Zheng Chuncao, at the event, held at the British Colonial Hilton, that celebrated the upcoming start of the Chinese New Year of The Rat. 

Among those present included Ministry of National Security Permanent Secretary Eugene Poitier; Foreign Affairs Director General Ambassador Sharon Brennen-Haylock; Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Eugene Torchon-Newry; Deputy Director General of the Ministry of Tourism Ellison “Tommy” Thompson; Deputy Leader of the Opposition I. Chester Cooper; Director of Sports Timothy Munnings; Senator the Hon. Fred Mitchell; President of the Bahamas China Friendship Association Gershan Major and members of his Executive Team; other senior Government officials; members of the Judiciary; and diplomatic and Chinese community stakeholders.
