President of the Bahamas Chamber of Commerce and Employers’ Confederation (BCCEC), Dr. Leo Rolle appeared on The Rundown talk show this week where he spoke about the role of the BCCEC.
Dr. Rolle said, among other things, the Chamber provides a level of support to businesses. He said, “for instance we have a professional selling course in sales and one in customer service. The beauty of that customer service course is that it teaches the employees of these businesses how to make sure that they customer service that they provide is top tier but we go a step further.”
The Chamber President also addressed the need for proper research before going into business. “I understand that my friend or I say a business that’s going well and I realize that they’re pricing their goods and services at $50. And so I go into that market because I think this is the new in thing without doing proper research and understanding that there’s a reason that that person was able to charge $50, perhaps they bring in in bulk, perhaps they’re partnering with someone. When I go into that business and I charge $50 I’m operating at a loss. And so understanding first of all the need in the market because you may going into a market where there’s really and truly not an appetite for your product or service and then you want to hit the wall when you realize that no one is purchasing your goods or services,” Rolle said.
The BCCEC announced the appointment of Dr. Rolle as its President in May of this year.
