Coalition Of Independents (COI) Party Leader, Lincoln Bain recently appeared on The Rundown talk show with host Clint Watson. During the conversation Bain commented on Super Value’s decrease in egg prices.

Bain said local farmers should take the lead in egg production. “Why is it that you don’t invest in our farmers so that they can grow to scale, invest in it, subsidize it like other countries subsidize agriculture, including America. Subsidize them so they can grow to scale and they can have the benefits. You make sure you supply them with feed and we’ll have eggs for probably a dollar. And so why four years later have they not done that?

The COI Leader maintained that The Bahamas should be producing eggs. He said, “eggs are something simple. You don’t need rocket science. You don’t need training and years of college that is simple. I think that is a massive fail to have to buy eggs when we have 700 farmers who can grow eggs . I’ve spoken to farmers in Abaco etc. who say this golden yolk thing they’ve really had no forward movement with it. You can buy chickens and you can have eggs this week. We’re gonna make sure that things like eggs, fruits, vegetables…we are going to make sure that our people get healthy things.”

The Coalition Of Independents held an event launching its vision 2030 over the weekend.
