
Commander Michael A. Benson, Director for Operation Bahamas, Turks and Caicos accepted an invitation for a courtesy call and subsequently visited the Commander Defence Force, Commodore Dr. Raymond King at HMBS CORAL HARBOUR some two weeks ago (July 7th. 2020) Arranged by Captain Glenn McPhee, the RBDF’s Commanding Officer for SOUTHERN COMMAND, the meeting’s objective was to build on mutual rapport, especially in the Southern Bahamas.
Also in attendance were Lieutenant Commander Byron Brown, Base Executive Officer for SOUTHERN COMMAND, Lieutenant Harry Dunphy, Deputy Director OPBAT and Brian Bonifant, DEA Attaché in The Bahamas.
During the meeting, discussions centered on the enhancement of the longstanding maritime law enforcement collaboration to mitigate transnational threats such as smuggling of illegal drugs, weapons, ammunition, poaching and human trafficking.
