Deputy Prime Minister and Deputy Leader of the Progressive Liberal Party, the Hon. Chester Cooper was asked for comment by reporters on Monday after a full page ad appeared in a local morning daily seemingly announcing a challenge for the Deputy Leader spot from Member of Parliament for Elizabeth, the Hon. Jobeth Coleby-Davis.
Cooper said, “I am very focused on doing the work of the Bahamian people. We’re breaking records in tourism. We have more than $10 billion in new investments in the investment space and as far as aviation is concerned we’ll be making some big announcements real soon about starting some developments with some of the airports across the country. We’ve laid out a plan in our blueprint for change. We have two more years to go and I will be resolutely focused on the work that the Bahamian people and the Progressive Liberal Party has asked me to perform on their behalf.”
Prime Minister, the Hon. Philip Davis also released a statement on the matter via his twitter account on Monday. He said, “I’ve been made aware of a political ad placed in today’s Tribune which appears to suggest a challenge a challenge to the Deputy Prime Minister’s position. To address the directly: the Deputy Prime Minister continues to have my full confidence and support as the Deputy Prime Minister and as the Deputy Leader of our Party.”
