Donald Frederick Ferguson, 26, appeared before Chief Magistrate, Roberto Reckley on Wednesday to be arraigned for the murder of Giovanni Rolle and other drug related charges.
Family members of Giovanni Rolle were present at Ferguson’s hearing and spoke with reporters outside of the courthouse. Rolle’s sister Melanie Rolle-Hilton said, “as a family we just want to say to God be all the glory and He’s more than a conqueror. While we know no legal proceeding can bring back what we’ve lost we count this as a significant step towards our journey of justice. We will continue steadfastly as we have done to get to this place to fight for justice for our brother.”
It is alleged that Ferguson along with others murdered Rolle on June 16th, 2024 shortly after he arrived at work at Jet Nassau on Coral Harbour Road. Ferguson was also charged with conspiracy to import dangerous drugs in connection with drugs seized from a crashed plane on the island of Acklins back on December 6th. The young pilot was also indicted along with former Police Chief Superintendent Elvis Curtis, former Defence Force Chief Petty Officer, Darren Roker and others by the United States in connection with transnational drug trafficking.
Ferguson was remanded to the Bahamas Department of Corrections and is expected back in court in May 2025.
