A memorandum of understanding (MOU) was signed between the government and the Dundas Center for the Performing Arts on Monday at the Office of the Prime Minister. The MOU is meant to assist in the redevelopment of the facilities that has deteriorated into disrepair.

Prime Minister, the Hon. Philip Davis was in attendance at the signing. He told reporters, “in the immediate term we are providing financial support to enable the Dundas to upgrade both the Winston V. Saunders Auditorium and the Philip Burrows Blackbox Studio.”

Dr. Nicolette Bethel, who signed on behalf of the Dundas, shared plans for the redevelopment property. She said, “we plan to have three performing arts spaces, three theatres on the property, as well as a number of other facilities for the performing arts. It is a center for the performing arts and this agreement will allow us to make our dreams come true.”

The Prime Minister also announced that the Dundas will be added as a line item in the annual budget under the ministry responsible for culture.

The initial investment under the memorandum of understanding is $350,000.
