She said, “the alleged shooting that was scheduled to take place the following day, which was yesterday, and when the teachers learned of this proposed shooting that was supposed to happen on campus, of course, they became concerned for their safety.”

Multiple altercations occurred at the learning institution recently. One of which resulted a person threatening to bring a gun to the school. In another incident a student threatened to bring a gun to the campus after being chased around the school by a former student. Grand Bahama Police Press Liaison Officer, Assistant Superintendent Stephen Rolle said, “were two incidents at the Eight Mile Rock High School where a parent and her son who is a former student of that school. They were invited to that school by the administration.”

Rolle also informed that the first incident where a visitor to the school was involved in an altercation at the school has been resolved. “It was turned over to the school resource officer, officers from the Eight Mile Rock Police Station would have assisted with that matter and that matter has since been resolved,” Rolle said. Regarding the threats of a school shooting Rolle said the homes of two males were searched and no weapons found. The males have since been suspended and sent to Genesis Academy.

A meeting on safety issues, involving teachers, was held on Wednesday. BECAWU’s Michelle Outten assured that teachers did not leave the campus.
