The family of Lynette Hooker, who went missing at sea over the weekend, is calling for an deeper investigation into her disappearance.
Hooker’s husband, Brian, told police that he and his wife were on a boat headed to Elbow Cay from Hope Town on Saturday when she fell overboard and was carried away by strong currents.
The woman’s daughter Karli Aylseworth told media this week that the circumstances surrounding the incident involving her mother is rising red flags. She said, “the story seems a little suspicious to me. So I don’t know why she was swimming away from the boat. It just doesn’t make sense to me. I believe something may have happened to her before getting in the water. So I would just like to know exactly what happened to get some closure.”
Aysleworth alleged that Mr. and Mrs. Hooker’s marriage was a tumultuous one. “They have had past issues before with domestic violence issues. He’s already threatened to kill her and throw her overboard before about two years ago and now its actually happened. So I would like to know the truth on what happened because I don’t believe she just fell out. I believe something happened and I would just really want to know the truth and hope to get her back if that’s even possible.”
Search and rescue efforts are still underway to find Hooker. According to Aysleworth the floating device Brian Hooker threw at her mother has been found.
She said, “I think I’m still in shock like sadness hits me in like waves right now. It’s just been kind of exhausting. I just want to know if she’s okay or just find her at least so I know what happened to her.
Investigation into the disappearance of Lynette Hooker are ongoing.
