Free National Movement Leader, the Hon. Michael Pintard announced the party’s intention to contest the upcoming Golden Isles by-election on Wednesday. He was standing on the steps outside the House of Assembly flanked by supporters.

Brian Brown will be the FNM’s standard bearer for the by-election. Pintard told reporters, “Brian has been in the constituency for more than eight years. And most especially over the last year he has been listening to the cries of the residents when they talk about the broken promises of this administration. He has not only been in the constituency, he has been working to address real needs that people have had for years.”

The FNM leader said the Davis administration is currently fixing roads in the constituency. He said its the same playbook the PLP used in the West Grand Bahama and Bimini by-election.

Pintard said, “the residents of Golden Isles have said to us over and over they are not for sale. They are not interested in politicians who wish to buy their vote rather than earn their trust.”

The FNM has lost the last three by-elections held in the country including one held in the West Grand Bahama and Bimini constituency in 2023. Despite this trend Pintard expressed confidence that his party will be victorious. “We are in it to win it. Again, we have an obligation to give our supporters and others who are tired of the PLP an alternative. And so we have shown up because we believe we are the best choice. We are best prepared to govern this country going forward and Golden Isles is an important piece of the broader puzzle in order for us to transform this country,” he said.

The FNM candidate Brian Brown emphasized that the people of Golden Isles familiarity with him. “They know me. I’m no stranger. They’ve beckoned the call for me to come and I’m prepared to serve. And so I’m more than confident that when the ballots box is closed, Brian Brown will be the next Member of Parliament for Golden Isles.”

The Golden Isles by-election is slated to be held on November 24th, 2025.
