A home on Baillou Hill Road South exploded while being serviced by a liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) company over the weekend.  Residents affected by the incident gave an update to ZNS News on Monday.

Resident of the home where the incident occurred Sandra Smith said she has made alternative accommodation arrangements.  “I to my son but you know I have a husband where I go he has to go.  When he come out he has to have somewhere to go.  Cause you know my son have his children and whatever, you know.   I with my son now, me and my grandchildren,  we by my son, I carry all them down there with me, my son-in-law all us down there,” Smith said.

Majorie Wallace’s home was also damaged by the explosion.  She shared her reaction saying, “Well I came here and I met it in this condition.  The only thing I’m looking forward to now is seeing what is going to be done best for me because like I was told not to touch anything and definitely I’m going to need someplace to live until everything is sorted out”

Pointing to a damaged chandelier which fell onto a dining room table Wallace added, “I’m giving God thanks and praise that I am here because these things can always be replaced.”
