Another healthcare worker has contracted COVID-19.
Deputy Chief Medical Officer Dr. Delon Brennen says the 50-year-old man was a contact of a previous case.
“They had no symptoms yet needed to go back into a healthcare environment. So, they were tested and found to be positive, an asymptomatic carrier. We have now placed that person into isolation and will monitor them going forward,” he told ZNS News on Thursday.
At the time of the interview, local cases stood at 97 with the number of those recovered and hospitalized at 44 and six respectively.
Brennen says post Covid-19 it is likely masks will be encouraged for the foreseeable future.
“We will ask that business, schools, recreational areas etc, put in more facilities for people to do more handwashing so that this can be mandatory to minimize the ability to spread infections including COVID,” he said.
