Police on the island of Grand Bahama are reporting the seizure of weapons, ammunition and drugs including 5 high powered rifles, 1 pistol, more than 500 rounds of ammunition and approximately 11 pounds of suspected marijuana.
Assistant Commissioner of Police in charge of the Northern Bahamas, Shanta Knowles appeared at a press event on Tuesday where she briefed reporters about the find. She said, “officers from the Anti Gang and Firearms Unit along with officers from our Customs Department executed a search warrant on a home in the eastern part of the city of Freeport.”
According to Knowles a 45 year old Bahamian man is in police custody assisting with the investigation. She said, “as we investigate and find anyone who conspire then they will be taken into custody and likely to be charged also.”
Assistant Commissioner Knowles also commended police officers for the actions. “We are proud that our officers were able to develop this information and show the people here in Grand Bahama that we are on the streets, we are listening and we are certainly acting.”
