Acting Press Secretary in the Office of the Prime Minister, Keishla Adderley revealed at a press briefing on Thursday that officers of the Immigration Department are expected to be charged in connection with a fraud ring uncovered at the department.

It is alleged that officers were paid by persons in the country on tourist visas who intended to lengthen their stay and work in The Bahamas.

Adderley told reporters, “obviously the Immigration Department is disappointed at this action which allegedly took place but the hope is that the prosecution of individuals involved in this ring will deter others from doing the same.”
