Island Administrators Enhance Knowledge of Environmental Protection

Minister of Environment and Housing the Hon. Romauld Ferreira speaks, October 31, 2019, at the opening the Bahamas Environment, Science and Technology (BEST) Commission’s Environmental Conclave for Family Island Administrators and their respective districts, held at the British Colonial Hilton.  The Environmental Conclave was a two-day interactive workshop with the goal of enhancing the capacity of Island Administrators on matters related to the protection of the environment, the process for foreign direct investments, persistent organic pollutants (POPs), the importance of biodiversity, issues associated with alien invasive species, the importance of Access and Benefit Sharing (ABS), the impacts of climate change and Multilateral Environmental Agreements (MEAs) to which The Bahamas is a signatory. 

The Conclave also addressed the roles of the BEST Commission (which is under the Ministry of the Environment and Housing), and the Bahamas Investment Authority (BIA).
