Minister of Youth, Sports and Culture, the Hon. Mario Bowleg appeared on the ZNS broadcast of the 2024 Boxing Day Junkanoo Parade where he spoke about the future of Junkanoo.

He said, “I don’t believe the Bahamian people nor the Junkanooers want to move from Bay Street. We talk about taking it to Queen Elizabeth Sports Center with all of those bleachers but you see the buildings allow that bass and for you to get that feeling, you know, that our ancestors once brought to us before.  It’s difficult to move it.  Any Minister or government can think about moving it and try it out and see what it’ll be like but I can tell you we wouldn’t get that close knit feeling.”
