The Cannibas Bill was passed in parliament earlier this year.  Minister of Health and Wellness, the Hon. Dr. Michael Darville recently gave an update about the implementation of the legislation.

Minister Darville told ZNS News an announcement should be made about the establishment of the Cannabis Authority in the new year.  He said, “the Medical Marijuana Act we’re now putting together the Authority and I have a document in Cabinet that I’m about to address tomorrow that will establish the Authority and begin now to move to implementing the digital platforms in order to monitor and regulate the industry.”

When asked about timelines the Minister said, “first of all I don’t want to put an exact date on it, but I assure you that we intend to have this industry up and running in the shortest period of time so that patients who need to access medical marijuana can do it in a regulated environment and provide relief for many people who suffering from chronic and debilitating diseases.”
