Minister for Grand Bahama, the Hon. Ginger Moxey and the Member of Parliament for West Grand Bahama and Bimini, the Hon. Kingsley Smith stressed the importance of preparation ahead of the passage of Hurricane Milton.
Moxey told ZNS News, “we’re just trying to get the word out, make sure everyone is doing their part and we believe that we are going to be okay.”
The Minister added, “I think that we’re handling it, we’re managing it, the expectations as well and so that’s why the weather department have been so focused on not trying to alarm but to educate.”
For his part, Smith spoke of the volatility of storms. He said, “on the southern side of the island you may have water that comes onto the land based on the wind or the breeze pushing.”
Ahead of the expected weather conditions due to the passing of Hurricane Milton, the West Grand Bahama Disaster Consultative Committee partnered with Bahama Rock to provide sandbags to residents.
Both Members of Parliament urged residents to exercise caution.
