Minister of National Security, the Hon. Wayne Munroe spoke with reporters about plans for the National Security ministry on the sidelines of a Majority Rule ceremony held at PLP Headquarters on Friday.
Munroe said, “we are steadfast in our approach prevention, policing, prosecution, punishment and rehabilitation. We embarked on the Clear, Hold, Build campaign with the police that is going to continue into this year. All of the prevention programs HYPE, Rangers, Cadets, all the programs run by the Royal Bahamas Police Force, Royal Bahamas Defence Force, Corrections will continue.”
The Minister also spoke to the importance of the assistance of civil society in the crime fight. “The churches are playing their part with their youth organizations. And so we’re confident as more and more people become involved in nurturing and mentoring young people we will be able to win the battle against the gangs recruiting them.”
