The need is great for The Bahamas Red Cross.
The economic crisis brought on by COVID-19 pandemic has found the organization feeding more than 1,000 people daily.
Director General of the Red Cross Sean Brennen said of this figure, 850 are in New Providence and an estimated 250 in Grand Bahama.
“We’re actually repairing up to 500 homes in the aftermath of Hurricane Dorian) – approximately 250 on Abaco and 250 on Grand Bahama. In addition, we would have he said provided debit cards to more than 3,000 famlies valued up to $3,600,” he said.
“We also have the Small Business Recovery Grant Programme and livelihood programmes…Thus far, we have a registration going on for that…This programme is focused on Grand Bahama, but we’re looking to see what else we can do…We are also providing training for a wide network of group leaders scattered across 15 islands…”
