News items on Tropical Storm Nana & Tropical Depression Omar


… Nana weakening rapidly over Northern Guatemala and Southeastern Mexico…

At 11:00 edt, the center of Tropical Storm Nana was located near latitude 16.4° North and longitude 90.3° West or 125 miles North of Guatemala City, Guatamala.

Nana is moving toward the West near 15 miles per hour and a Westward to West-Southwestward motion is expected through Friday night.

Maximum sustained winds are near 45 miles per hour with higher gusts. Continued rapid weakening is forecast and Nana will likely becoome a remnant low on Friday.

… Omar still a Depression… forecast to become a post-Tropical remnant low Friday…

At 11:00 a.m edt, the center of Tropical Depression Omar was located near latitude 35.9° North and longitude 61.1° West or 335 miles Northeast of Bermuda. The Depression is moving toward the East near 13 miles per hour and this general motion is expected to continue through Friday morning accompanied by a slight decrease is forward speed.

A turn toward the East – Northeast and Northeast is expected Friday and Friday night.

Maximum sustained winds are near 35 miles per hour with higher gusts. Gradual weakening is forecast and Omar is expected to become a remnant low on Friday or possibly sooner. The remnant low should dissipate on Saturday.

Omar is still a depression… forecast to become a post- Tropical remnant low Friday…
