Police on the island of Grand Bahama seized approximately 500 pounds of hydroponic marijuana on Wednesday afternoon. The drugs bust resulted in the arrest of two men.
Officer In Charge of Crime and Operations for the Northern Bahamas, Chief Superintendent Will Hart was on the scene where he provided details of the drugs bust. He said, “officers along with DEU and Customs acting on information reference to a go fast vehicle that was moored at one of the local marinas. As a result of this information officers boarded the vessel where they saw two male Bahamians.”
The two men were reportedly as the facility to refuel their vessel. Hart said, “acting on information the officers started to search the boat where they discovered a large quantity of suspected marijuana. The estimates weight is now 500 plus and the street value of $1.5 million.”
Police transported the drugs found on the vessel to the Central Police Station where another count of would be conducted.
