Members of the Free National Movement (FNM) led by Party Leader and  Leader of the Opposition, the Hon. Michael Pintard held a press conference outside of the Office of the Prime Minister on Monday to voice their concerns about crime in the country.

Also a part of the delegation was FNM Deputy Leader, the Hon. Shanendon Cartwright who said, “in March of 2022, we were here at the Office of the Prime Minister.  In that month it was the largest murder count for a single month in the Commonwealth of The Bahamas, we are now at seventeen.  We pray and hope that we don’t meet a new milestone.”

The Member of Parliament for St. Anne’s, the Hon. Adrian White who was also at the press event spoke with ZNS News saying, “the days of there being no murders seem to be in our past.  But we need to bring that past back so that citizens can be out on the streets feeling comfortable and free to go about their business and not in fear of losing their life.”

White added, “the murder that took place they describe it as being on Parkgate Road where I saw all the police cones and bodies set up, that was on Village Road, on the eastern side of Village Road, that’s St. Anne’s.  That would be the second murder,, third murder actually, for St. Anne’s in approximately twelve months.”

According to Cartwright a government’s number one priority is to keep its citizens safe.
