Leader of the Opposition, the Hon. Michael Pintard commented on former Prime Minister, the Rt. Hon. Perry Christie being named to serve at the new Urban Renewal Authority outside of the House Of Assembly on Wednesday.
Pintard told reporters, “we believe that Prime Minister Christie has a number of strong attributes but right now what we need is a complete restructuring of Urban Renewal. So the decisions they make now are secondary to what we will do in the next few months when we take government and we intend to structure Urban Renewal in a manner that it can have impact on not only the environment in our inner cities and over the hill but also on the residence who live there and are going through tremendous challenges now that Urban Renewal is having minimal impact on.”
Urban Renewal began under the 2002-2007 Christie administration in the Farm Road area. Prime Minister Davis announced Mr. Christie’s participation in the new authority while delivering the keynote address at the official launch of the Urban Renewal Authority on Monday.
