A delegation of government officials led by Acting Prime Minister, the Hon. Chester Cooper traveled to Inagua on Wednesday to assess the damage left behind by Hurricane Oscar.

While on the island officials participating in a press conference where Minister of State in the Office of the Prime Minister, the Hon. Leon Lundy revealed that relief items were on the way to Inagua.  He said, “right now we are very much in recovery mode.  Our immediate focus is on ensuring the people have the resources they need to start rebuilding their lives, relief supplies are already enroute and the RBDF (Royal Bahamas Defence Force) boat, Lawrence Major, is loaded and will be arriving with more aid in the coming days.”  The Minister also stated that the delegation brought resources with them to be distributed to those in need.

Hurricane Oscar made landfall on Inagua over the weekend as a category 1 storm before heading to Cuba.
