The Progressive Liberal Party (PLP) commemorated the 3rd anniversary of its 2021 general election win with a church service held at the Church Of God Of Prophesy East Street Tabernacle over the weekend.
While addressing those in attendance, Prime Minister and PLP Leader, the Hon. Philip Davis spoke about the Party’s accomplishments since assuming office. He said, “we pulled the country back from the fiscal brink. We revitalized tourism, bringing new jobs, partnerships and investments. We gained respect and standing on a global stage, promoting our country and stood up for fair climate finance, worked to get our country off the blacklist, brought major sporting events to The Bahamas and strengthened our partnerships to protect our borders.”
The Prime Minister added, “we are determined to solved problems that have for decades have been treated as unsolvable. We are determined to end the band-aid approach, the patching up, the covering up and the giving up. When you take the aspirations of your people seriously you treat apathy and passion as sins because they only way to change lives is to change the status quo.”
During his remarks, PLP Chairman, the Hon. Fred Mitchell spoke about the legacy of the PLP. He said, “no other political party could claim it. Majority rule, national independence, the create of the social security system, universal education and healthcare and national defense. These are immutable facts but facts can be twisted by those who engage in counter revolution.”
The message was delivered by Bishop Woodley Thompson who said we are called to influence society and point others to the truth of God’s word.
The Progressive Liberal Party won 32 of the 39 seats in the 2021 elections.
