While opening campaign offices on the island of Grand Bahama over the weekend Prime Minister and Progressive Liberal Party Leader, the Hon. Philip Davis spoke about the government’s efforts to address the high cost of energy on the island.
Mr. Davis said, “Grand Bahama base rate shows that for residential usage between 351 and 800 kWh. BPL charge $11.95 per kWh while the Grand Bahama Power Company charge $22.87, double. That is why we are acting. That is why we moved to acquire Grand Bahama Power Company.”
He further stated, “we are working to bring down the cost of electricity in Grand Bahama and shortly you will have relief. Grand Bahama should no longer remain trapped in a costly arrangement that leaves families and businesses paying more than their fellow citizens. That is what standing up for Grand Bahama looks like.”
The PLP Leader told supporters that now is the time for urgency and for all hands to be on deck.
