Prime Minister, the Hon. Philip Davis admitted that efforts to combat crime are insufficient during his address to Parliament on Wednesday. Mr. Davis was responding to the recent indictment of Bahamians, including law enforcement officers, by the Southern District of New York.
He said, “the efforts and initiatives that we have engaged to keep young men and young women engaged to ensure that their hands are not idle is taking some but its not sufficient. We will not surrender. We will not retreat. And whereas it does frustrate me, it angers me and sometimes its very thankless to see despite what we attempt to do is not working as quickly as you think it would be. We will not give up because we also believe that its just a small segment of the society that is wreaking the havoc that invokes the fear and the concern that we hear so often about.”
