Government officials led by Prime Minister, the Hon. Philip Davis toured the construction site of the Celebration Key Cruise Port under development by the Carnival Corporation. Mr. Davis shared that he was impressed with the advanced stage of construction at the site.  He said, “this is something that has been on the drawing board for many years and to see it coming out of the ground in the fashion it is truly, truly invigorating to me.” Presently there are over 200 Bahamians and 32 subcontractors working at the site.  Twenty nine of the subcontractors are Bahamian.  Mr. Davis said, “building these buildings and working which is, again, the idea of my government to ensure that Bahamians are involved in building. ” Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Tourism, Investments and Aviation, the Hon. Chester Cooper was apart of the delegation.  He shared that the progression of the construction is a demonstration of investor confidence.  “The millions that will come here and go outside the gates to really enjoy the product the Grand Bahama Island has to offer.  So I’m looking forward to completion.” For her part, Minister for Grand Bahama, the Hon. Ginger Moxey thanked Carnival Corporation and Prime Minister Davis for ensuring that the project came to fruition.
