Prime Minister, Dr. the Hon. Hubert Minnis, toured the Samaritan’s Purse field hospital at the Princess Margaret Hospital this morning.
The Prime Minister’s tour which took place prior to the facility becoming operational today, was conducted by Dr. Caroline Burnett-Garraway, Medical Chief of Staff (MCOS) at PMH and Dr. Elliot Tenpenny, team lead for Samaritan’s Purse in the Bahamas, The field hospital which was set-up on the PMH campus over the weekend will improve the Hospital’s capacity to provide care for COVID-19 patients requiring hospitalization.
Upon completion of their time in country, the Samaritan’s Purse team will conduct a handover process transferring patients to the care of the PMH clinical team and allocating remaining medical supplies and the entire field hospital to PMH. PMH will operate the facility until it is no longer required on campus and then it will be transferred to the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) as a resource for future crisis response.
